2007 PILOT TRUCK DRIVER CHALLENGE WINNERS

Pilot Travel Centers is honored to announce the winner of the annual Pilot Truck Driver Challenge. Peter Jellen, transport driver for the No. 18 Interstate Batteries team from the Joe Gibbs racing garage, has won the 2007 title ahead of Hass CNC’s Bennie Stevens and Roush/Fenway Racing’s Joe Wernet, who finished second and third respectfully. Jellen will take away $50,000 as the 2007 champion.
In a competition focused on safe and responsible truck driving, hauler drivers from Nextel Cup teams competed in varying categories throughout the year. The competition included driving tests, safety quizzes and equipment inspections, showcasing the talents that label these truck drivers as the best on the road. Jellen, a veteran around the Nextel Cup garage, displayed his driving talents throughout the 2007 challenge, winning three of the five driving tests. The Pilot Truck Driver Challenge gives Pilot Travel Centers the opportunity to honor the hardest working member of any race team, the transport driver.
Peter is the kind of guy who can be sent down the road and you know that he will be there on time and without issues. He doesn't just drive the truck he is part of the team at the track. He works with our engine group. Peter is a great worker and a great team mate.
